Katie’s Tetrathlon Success at the British Championships
What a mixed weekend it was emotionally for eleven year old Towers pupil, Katie O, competing in the British Tetrathlon Championships on Saturday 21st April at the University of Bath. She was delighted when she came 4th in the fencing competition and even happier when a very good swim put her in second place. Things did not go to plan with Katie’s shooting performance when, with 30 seconds of warm up left on the shooting range, water got into her pistol, which started misfiring. With no time to replace it she knew she would have to watch while other competitors overtake her, knowing there was nothing she could do. All was not lost however, because after a convincing Katie managed to come home in 4th place overall. An amazing performance by Katie, competing at such a high level – congratulations!
A picture with Jamie Cooke, a GBR Olympic athlete, helped cheer her up at the end!
