Joining The Towers Family
Pupils are accepted from the age of two in the Nursery. The normal age of entry to the Senior School is at 11+. Pupils entering the school after Year 3 usually sit an entrance test. Parents seeking a place for a pupil will be invited to visit the school. They will then be requested to complete an application form and return it to the school with the appropriate non-refundable fee. At this point pupils will spend a taster day in the class they will join to experience life at The Towers Convent School first hand. When a formal application has been made the Headmistress will request information relevant to the candidate’s application and transfer from the Head of the current school.
The Towers Convent School is a non-selective school. Support can be offered to pupils who have a mild specific learning difficulty e.g. mild dyslexia. However, if the Headmistress feels that The Towers Convent School does not have the resources to help a pupil with special educational needs, a place will not be offered
Entrance examinations for entry in September are normally held in the preceding January/ February. All candidates over 8 years of age are required to sit English, mathematics and non-verbal reasoning papers and to provide the Headmistress with their most recent school report. Pupils for whom application is made after February will also be asked to sit an entrance examination prior to admission. An Examination Fee of £50.00 is payable which should be submitted before the examination.

Traditionally we offer Bursary awards, which are means-tested and normally given to senior pupils only. If you intend applying for a Bursary Award it is wise to submit your application to the Bursar in the January before the pupil’s intended start in September. From September 2017 we will be giving several Awards to Yr7 pupils, who excel in certain areas. Please see details of our Scholarship Programme in the Admissions section of our website.
Pupils who are already in The Towers will only be required to sit entrance tests for entry into year 7 if they are applying for an academic scholarship.
Both Bursaries and Awards entitle the recipient to a reduction of their basic termly fees only. This does not include extras such as residential trips, peripatetic lessons, clubs or external exam fees.
