Nikki Byfield Mrs Nikki Byfield – Chairman 
Nikki’s connection with The Towers started 18 years ago when her daughter joined the nursery. She joined the PTA and became the Chair; she has been on the board of Governors for 4 years.
Nikki comes from a training and Human Resources background having worked for 20 years with Trusthouse Forte after which she set up her own business as a training consultant working in the UK and abroad for various companies.
Nikki has governor responsibility for safeguarding, HR and Personnel
neil Mr Neil Thomas – Foundation
Neil began his career in steel building fabrication, manufacturing and designing steel structures. I loved the practical side in the workshop. Due to the economic climate he moved into financial services, selling products, and became head of compliance with a leading insurance company; having been involved with training he then sat the other side of a desk and retrained to become a teacher. After several years teaching Neil joined The Towers in 2004 and currently teaches Design Technology and Religious Education. He is the Foundation Governor and is jointly responsible for helping to maintain the ethos in our school which is a lived experience and permeates through all aspects of school life. The Towers Convent School’s ethos may be understood to be the outward signs and experiences of the teachings of Christ in all our daily lives.
Mrs Margaret Benham Hermetz Mrs Margaret Benham-Hemetz
Margaret is a retired solicitor with 3 adult children. She has a long association with the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and The Towers. Margaret is a local resident, a member of the local Catholic Church and actively involved in the local Citizens Advice, RVS and the history museum.
Margaret has governor responsibility for special needs.
Frank Gainsbury Mr Frank Gainsbury
Frank has been a member of the Board of Governors since 2007. He is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and qualified Arbitrator with his practice based in Haywards Heath. Frank’s professional experience allows him to help The Towers with the maintenance of our buildings and any major construction works. Frank is married with three grown-up children. In his spare time he is a keen basketball fan, being involved in the ownership and management of a professional basketball team in Worthing.
Frank has governor responsibility for premises Health & Safety.
Mrs Jane Stephenson Mrs Jane Stephenson
Jane is married and has two adult sons and two adorable granddaughters. Jane qualified as a teacher in 1974 and has taught in both the private and state sectors. Her last position was in St. Peter’s School in Henfield where she taught for fourteen years and was responsible for RE throughout the school. Jane retired in July 2014 and joined the board of governors at The Towers in April 2015.
Jane has governor responsibility for the Junior School and literacy.
Mark Sutton Mr Mark Sutton
Mark became a governor in January 2015. Victoria, his daughter, started at The Towers in 2008. Mark is a Chartered Accountant who has worked in the media, insurance and healthcare sectors during his career. Mark said “Victoria has enjoyed 7 very happy years at The Towers and I look forward to continuing to support the school, staff and Sisters in the future”.
Mark has governor responsibility for maths, finance and budgeting.
Sean Teatum Mr Sean Teatum
Sean is semi-retired having spent over 40 years in the ICT business. During his career he has worked in UK, Europe & Asia Pacific and in Project, Programme & Process Management, Business & Network Operations and Customer Service. As Director of Business Operations for 21st. Century Networks he helped transform BT. Sean currently works voluntarily for the Upper Beeding Parish Council as Chairman of the Neighbourhood Planning Team and part-time for the College of Arts & Humanities at Brighton University. He enjoys working with people, bringing about improvements and success through engagement and hard work.
Sean has governor responsibility for ICT and PE.
